5 Years of doing our thing, and so much else!

Wingman Accounting is officially 5 years old on 1 Sep and there couldn’t be more going on during this celebratory time. In this mailer we meet our new CIMA candidates, share some activity we’ve been doing out there in the marketplace and finally share a big reveal! Before moving on, all of us at Wingman would like to thank all our customers for your support, right from the early days to date, and trust we can continue to build the relationships we’ve forged. We look forward to your many more successes and its been a pleasure witnessing all the good things that have happened to you, our clients, to date. Here’s to another 5 years!

Recently you will recall we successfully registered as a CIMA training office and we wasted no time in running our first official grad day (it was a lot of fun, to say the least!), and selecting our 2 favourite humans from the successful day.
We chose these guys because they were super smart, displayed authenticity and had great smiles! With that said we would like to introduce you to Richard and Pritchard. Welcome gents, we’re excited to have you on board and look forward to building our futures together.
These 2 wonderful young gentlemen happen to have a friendship that predates Wingman so here’s a picture with some serious posing going down…

We further want to welcome our first team member to Paarl. Rolani has an unexpected background for our business, but, we feel that although ‘unique’, it very much aligned to our business needs. Rolani studied a B.Ed (Hons) degree majoring in Mathematics and served 17 years in Gymnasium High School, Paarl, taking on more seniority as her career progressed. Welcome to the fold Rolani and we’re eagerly supporting your career lane change!

The story so far &…… Wingman’s first ‘official’ office
Happy Birthday to us – 5 years old today! We’ve learnt a lot along the way and are truly grateful to still be in the game, out on the field each day, delivering to value to clients and creating a name for ourselves. The narrative is the classic story: We opened the doors of Wingman Accounting on 1 September 2017, and the business had Adriaan and Tiaan as employee number 1. Lucky for us there was a fit-for-purpose flatlet in Adriaan’s backyard it was out of that flat the business built up to 7 staff members achieving multiple milestones along the way. A famous story written in our annuals is prior to having an air conditioner we got through winter by running the stove in the kitchenette. It was that same oven that set our pizza boxes on fire.

Yes that is Adriaan in the background dressed as a mom with a baby bottle – it was his Wingman hosted nappy braai.
Then Covid arrived… and we continued to grow completely through a distributed remote team. Fast forward to today and we’re a team of 13 strong and with our CIMA program kicking off we realised it was time to go back to the office… and with that brings us our first official office space, with the official lease date being none other than 1 September!
Once again, we thank all our clients for their support and look forward to welcoming you to our space for a coffee and a chat. Don’t forget to bring a housewarming present…
Featuring on the Global Arena
Adriaan recently was part of a panel discussion on “Delivering and growing your advisory services in an increasingly borderless world”. We highly recommend you register to watch the recorded event in which the panellists discussed how they see the global opportunity and how they have actually acted on those opportunities. On the panel were practices from Dubai, UK, Philippines and none other than Wingman representing South Africa. Be sure to give it a listen and hear in on what global players are doing out there, and spark some aspirational goals of what each one of us can do in our South African context. Tax Sessions – SARS Complaint Process – Crash Course
Andries kicked off our series of Tax Webinars aimed at giving quick and valuable insights to a broader audience through LinkedIn. Although the ‘live’ attendance of the webinar wasn’t huge – the video eventually got 566 unique visits, which we are very happy with. In case you missed it, here’s the link:

Trans Store Solutions is a transport company located in Vereeniging. Trans Store Solution was specifically looking for structure in their financial reporting and for a trusted partner to host Management Account meetings, that would enable value-adding insights to improve profitability. With Syft in our arsenal and having already started building a track-record with such an offering, Wingman was up to the task. We believe we’ve lived up to and exceeded expectations – but we’ll leave it to Tian, the CEO of Trans Store Solutions, to say what he has to say (naturally after heavily vetting hiss comments for unfettered positivity):
“Over the past six months, Wingman has worked closely with our team in order to understand our business and processes, which in turn resulted in on-time and valuable reporting. The instability of the diesel price has put a strain on the transport industry and Wingman was able to give us insight on how to manage our pricing models, during these fluctuations in the industry. These tweaks have been tremendously beneficial to our business and will enable us to implement future strategies in order to keep the business financially sound. We are very impressed with Wingman’s efficiency, know-how and quick turnaround times and look forward to future dealings.”
