February, the month of purification
The word “February” derives from a Latin term meaning “purification”, which harks back to an ancient Roman purification ritual.
This is an interesting analogy for us accountants, as February is a time when we prepare year-end accounts for most of our clients.
At Wingman, we’re already churning out provisional tax calculations by the dozen. Our philosophy is to proactively finish & file tax returns long before the deadline.
One of our oldest (and dearest) traditions is to go for a team lunch on the last working day of February to celebrate another successful tax season. We do the same thing in August.
It might look like “carrot” vs “stick” from the outside. For us, however, it represents something more. The big tax deadline months are not something to be feared, but something to handle in our stride with proper prep and planning.
And at the end of it all, there is pizza and beer.
Not quite what the ancient Romans had in mind, but we’re happy to roll with our (dare I say improved?) version.
